Fredericksburg Research Resources

Fredericksburg City directories 1888-1889, 1892, 1910-1911, and 1921 list names of residents, their addresses and sometimes their occupations. The headquarters library holds additional directories in print format. The Embrey Index to Deeds and Wills, 1727-1920. In addition to the index to records, there is other useful information on the changing area boundaries. The deeds and wills are housed in the local court house.

There are indices to Fredericksburg newspapers from the late 1700s to 1926. These papers are held on microfilm at the headquarters branch of the library. There is also an 1860 census of inhabitants, lists of taxable town lots during the period 1782 to 1862 as well as pictures of Fredericksburg and an index to the George H.S. King Papers of Fredericksburg history at the Virginia Historical Society.
